Thousands of high school students entering the “real world” are now facing decisions about what to do next. (College, work, a year off) The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report in January about the trends of this very decision (here). And the NYTimes “Room for Debate” blog post (here) mentions that the the 41,000 private sector jobs created fall way short of the 100,000 needed to keep up with the college and high school graduates entering the workforce.
So this year… watching graduates walk up to receive their diploma with smiles and arms raised I wondered…..
[Where are they going?] [What is this "real world" going to look like for them?] & [How is this recession affecting them? ]

I created this video in response to these questions I was asking from footage I gathered from Central, Ohio high school graduations juxtaposed against the political debate about jobs that people in the “real world” are having today.
