These two boys asked me to take their photo at the St. Michael Festival Saturday, September 4th, in Worthington, Ohio.

Every Friday Night until November I’ll be going out to high school football games covering the football action for Suburban News.  What I am attracted to most when I go out to these games is everything but the game.  I want to photograph the band, the fans and the cheerleaders.  Everything surrounding the game.  I hope to come back every Friday with something for the blog.

Made my first visit to NY, NY with my wife.  I did not concentrate on photographing the city or anything really, just documenting our visit with her aunt.  But after while the lines of the buildings started appealing to me.

As a photojournalist you will get requests from kids and adults for you to take their photograph when you are out on assignment.  Most of time I ignore these people but sometimes I snap a photo to make them happy and move on.  After taking this photo I thought that it might be interesting to have an ongoing photoessay of all the people that ask me to take their photo.   Here is the first of what I suspect will be many more to come.

Lori Garland of Columbus lost her pomeranian, Sissy, to a dog attack while walking her dog and Ginseng, a Jack Russell terrier she is fostering through the nonprofit group Canine Collective.  (Here) is a link to the SNP story about the attack.  Photographed is Lori with Ginseng at her home where he is recovering from the attack.

These clouds that rolled by prior to a August 4th storm in Columbus, Ohio produced two feelings in me:  either the world was ending in a painful mess or something amazing was going to happen (possibly a hand reaching down to take me to the promised land)

it was 50/50

For the August issue of Columbus Monthly I photographed WBNS-10TV news anchor Andrea Cambern with her Bengal tiger cat Bamboo for our Crazy About Pets story.  Cambern actually has two Bengal tiger cats but the other one, Tiger Lily, was not in the mood for a portrait session, so Bamboo it was.  Two things about the photo shoot:  (one) – Andrea was great to work with and was willing to spend time and try a variety of different poses.    (two) – Driving to Andrea Cambern’s home for the assignment I was a bit unsure how I was going to photograph her with her cats, do to the fact that cats kind of do whatever they want, when they want….. and I am no cat whisperer.  But, Bamboo was striking a variety of classic cat poses and between the two of them they gave us at the magazine a bunch photos to work with.  Thanks to both of you
